Location
Lorgues is the perfect location to explore all of the attractions and amenities available in this part of France. The coast with its famous resorts of St. Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, is an easy drive away. In the other direction are the hills, forests and lakes of upper Provence including the famous Gorge de Verdon which provide an idyllic, peaceful place to enjoy nature to its full. And in the immediate surrounding area there are vineyards, olive groves, pine forests and delightful Provencal villages.
The charming and unspoiled town of Lorgues, with its Tuesday market, is an easy 10 minute walk away. There are 12th century remains which reflect the fact that the Crusades passed through this area, an imposing church which dominates the approaches to Lorgues, and a strong sense of history can be felt throughout the town.
The area has many restaurants, cafes, and bars which will suit all tastes. The local villages have many interesting places to see, lovely views and delightful shops to look for gifts and souvenirs. High quality shopping can be found a little further afield in places like Cannes, Aix en Provence, St. Tropez and Nice.
If you are looking for more strenuous activities such as canoeing, kayaking, horse-riding and golf, they are all within easy reach and the surrounding countryside is ideal for walking, whether it is an afternoon stroll or a day-long hike.
